Leadership & Service

Welcome to Student Leadership and Service Initiatives at the Ohio State University!

Our staff are busy with plans for a new Center for Student Leadership and Service.   An initiative through the Office of Student Life, the Center is set to open with the new Ohio Union facility in 2010.  The Center will be a comprehensive, centralized point of connection for students, faculty, staff, and local community for leadership and service.  The Center will build partnerships with campus and community departments, collect and share information about leadership and service initiatives across campus, and offer innovative resources and programming for students, staff, and faculty.

Our vision is to prepare world-class leaders for responsible citizenship.  We work to strengthen and transform personal leadership through a broad variety of experiences and opportunities, to develop social consciousness around issues which affect us all, and to connect people and resources in an inclusive environment that fosters learning, innovation, and lifelong action.  We intentionally link leadership and service because we believe that every student has the potential and the capacity to serve through leadership in our community.

A new Leadership and Service Clearinghouse is now available online.  The Clearinghouse is an online search tool to find the variety of leadership and service involvement opportunities that exist on campus - both in and out of the classroom.

You can use the information provided here to learn more about the opportunities available on campus, but more importantly to enhance your Buckeye experience. Research shows that college students who are involved in at least one area outside of their academics have a number of positive outcomes: higher grades, time-management skills, stronger relationships with peers and the college.
