New Ohio Union/Transition
Transition Info
As plans are underway to replace the Ohio Union, the programs and services that exist in the current building will need to be relocated. Since July of 2004, a transition team, or committee, has been meeting to plan and discuss the process of relocation. The team’s goals include:
- Preserve the identity of the Ohio Union at another site.
- Relocate student affairs offices, including the Multicultural Center, Student Advocacy Center, Off Campus and Commuter Student Services, Student Housing Legal Clinic, as well as the Ohio Union and Student Activities.
- Provide office space for a limited number of student organizations, including the three student governments (Undergraduate Student Government, Council of Graduate Students, and the Interprofessional Council).
- Provide alternative space to host campus events and activities.
- Secure alternative space to host large scale events traditionally held in the Ohio Union; relocate clients to other Student Affairs facilities on campus.
- Coordinate the process of moving out of the building, including archiving and preserving historical details and artifacts.
- Coordinate farewell events and activities that allow people to say goodbye to the current Ohio Union.
