Support
There are many opportunities to support the Ohio Union and advance its mission. Gifts at all levels are welcomed and appreciated.
Naming Opportunities
Several spaces in the new Ohio Union are available to name and are a wonderful way to honor a loved one or mentor or highlight past achievements. Below are some of the spaces that offer great exposure and will be utilized by generations of Buckeyes:
- Ballroom
- Two-story student organization space
- Conference Theater
- Multicultural Center
- Performance Hall
- Lounges and Meeting Rooms

Student Organization Campaigns
As a sign of their commitment and appreciation to the University, three student organizations have named meeting rooms in the new Ohio Union. All three are currently in campaigns to raise the necessary funds to name and furnish their meeting rooms.
Ohio Staters - Ohio Union Room Fund [480719]
In celebration for their upcoming 75th anniversary, Ohio Staters has committed to naming two rooms in the new Ohio Union. In addition to securing naming rights, this fund furnishes the rooms and provides ongoing maintenance.
Sphinx 100th Reunion Fund [312082]
In celebration of their 100th anniversary, Sphinx honorary has committed to naming a room in the new Ohio Union. In addition to securing naming rights, this fund furnishes the room and provides ongoing maintenance.
Student Alumni Council – Ohio Union Room [312520]
To show their appreciation to the University and the Ohio Union, the Student Alumni Council has committed to naming a room in the new Ohio Union. In addition to securing naming rights, this fund furnishes the room and provides ongoing maintenance.

Endowments and Funds
Private support enhances many of the organizations and programs that are housed in the Ohio Union. Whether through an annual gift to the University or through a one-time gift, the endowments and funds listed below offer opportunities to support organizations that are meaningful to the Ohio Union and to you.
Ohio Union Capital Campaign Fund [311179]
Gifts to this fund support the new Ohio Union building project. Support allows for the enhancement of spaces, programs, and services planned for the new Ohio Union.
Friends of the Ohio Union Fund [303821]
Gifts to this fund support the overall operation and activities of the Ohio Union. Support allows the Ohio Union to enhance its current programs and services as well as to create new and innovative initiatives.
Wendell W. Ellenwood Scholarship Fund [605346]
Established May 5, 1983, by alumni and friends of the Ohio Union to honor his 25 years of leadership at the Ohio Union. Income provides need-based scholarships for students participating in Ohio/Drake Unions Activities now called Ohio Union Activities Board.
Clarence 'Clancy' A. Isaac Jr. Block 'O' Leadership Award [603391]
Established June 6, 1997 by his estate, family and friends, support for this award provides scholarships (one-third of in-state undergraduate tuition) to elected Block “O” officers who demonstrate outstanding leadership and service, remain active in office and maintain good academic standing. Unused income is reinvested to principal.
David Louis Mitchell Civic Action Award [605011]
Established July 10, 1987, by Glen H. and Anna Belle Mitchell in honor of their son. Income provides grants to students/student organizations enabling them to address economic or social problems on or off campus.
Greek Affairs Education Fund [602734]
Established March 2, 1979, by undergraduate and alumni members of the University's social fraternities and sororities, the chapters' national organizations, parents and friends of the interfraternity system. Income supports activities for the Greek Community.
Greek Community Endowment Fund [602735]
Established November 3, 2000 by funds received from the beverage pouring rights agreement between the Coca-Cola Company and The Ohio State University. Income supports the fraternity and sorority community to ensure the Greek Community is living its goals and values through strong individual chapters and effective inter-Greek programs that enhance the quality of life at the University.
Janice Kirk and Robert P. van Blaricom Greek Leadership Fund [640590]
Income supports fraternity and sorority student leadership training and opportunities to represent the Greek Community at conventions/workshops.
Ohio Staters, Inc. Founders Fund [605385]
Established November 2, 1990 by Ohio Staters, Inc., Rita Thomas (wife of late Oscar J. Thomas), and family and friends of the late James C.B. Handley to commemorate the founding members of Ohio Staters, Inc. Income from the endowment supports communications with Ohio Staters, Inc. alumni and programs exemplifying the founding principles of Ohio Staters, Inc.
Ruth E. Smith Memorial Leadership Endowment Fund [646769]
Provides funding for leadership initiatives in the Ohio State Greek Community to honor the memory of Ruth Smith of Alpha Delta Pi.
Senior Class of 1987 Fund [606478]
Established October 5, 1990 by the Class of 1987. Income from the endowment repairs and refurbishes the Ohio Union.
Student Alumni Council (SAC) Operations and Service Fund [647051]
Established November 7, 1997. Income from the endowment supports operating expenses of SAC for projects benefiting the general membership and University-related service projects that benefit the greater campus community.
Student Alumni Council (SAC) Service Fund [647054]
Established August 30, 1995. Income from the endowment supports University-related service projects having a philanthropic and/or benevolent purpose, enhancing the greater campus community and promoting awareness of activities and student lifestyles.
Sponsorship of Programs
The Ohio Union and Student Activities provide many programs and services that touch the lives of current students. From large scale programs to leadership and community service initiatives, there are opportunities for individuals and corporations to sponsor activities and events. Sponsorship opportunities can be tailored to meet a variety of needs while offering broad exposure.
